Solar inverter substation SIS– is the pre-assembled substation of container-type for placing of electrical equipment – for control system, inverter, MV-transformer and distributiom devices.

SIS is structurally devided into following functional parts: Details of construction
- container;
- power conversion system;
- auxiliaries.
Container is a metal sheath, which serves to assembly of electronic and electric equipment, and its protection from environmental influence.
Power convertion system – is a complex of electronic and electric equipment, which serves to power reception and conversion with voltage up to 1000 V of direct current from photovoltaic power systems in electric power of three-phase voltage 10 kV (35 kV), 50 hz of alternating current , and for delivery of generated electricity into the national network.
PCS consists of:
- ABB inverters;
- step-up transformer wth the split windinsg;
- flow-through switchgears of medium voltage.
Auxiliaries – is electronic and electric equipment, which serves to power supply of SIS-auxaliaries, and for control of additional SIS-equipment.
SIS-performance is available on the base of metal containers and monoblock concrete containers.
Functions of Solar inverter substation
Solar inverter substation implements following main functions:
- automatic generation of electric current by the prescribed algoritm;
- fulfilling of pritection and lock functions;
- synchronization to the line;
- compulsory checking of condition of main electrical equipment status and its parameters;
- process and alarm signaling in case of extraordinary situation or critical process parameters;
- access to the generating, storing and data transmissioning process about technical process tj the dispatch center screens, and printing of information in a user-friendly format;
- consumption and production records of electric power.
Structure of Solar inverter substation
Solar inverter substation consists of main equipment for energy conversion, and optional equipment for SIS auxiliaries.
Main equipment for energy conversion – inverters, transformer, medium-voltage switchgear.
Optional equipment - automatic load transfer cabinet, auxiliary power supply cabinet, microclimate system, smoke detection system, indoor lighting.

Solar inverter substation is performed in climatic version У1 defined in the standard GOST 15150, GOST 15543 and are designed to be used in following conditions:

Monoblock concrete container SIS is a monoblock concrete construction, which is devided by diaphragms into sections. Every section has its doors and ventilating grill.
Metallic container SIS is presented by two functionally completed modules - warm and cold, which are as-installed assembly units.
Warm module SIS – inverter room with artificial system of microclimate maintenance (cooling, ventilation and heating system).
Cold module SIS – transformer cabin and Switchgear Rooms of medium voltage.
SIS has metal supporting frame, building envelopes are made of metal shaped steel with nonflammable mineral wool heat insulator.
Cooling, ventilation and heating system serves to microclimate maintenance, ventilation of transformer cabin. In rooms of high voltage units is natural ventilation used.
